The Scalp Health and Haircare Education Certification Program is designed to be flexible, allowing students to learn at their own pace while ensuring mastery of the material. The program includes over 8 hours of self-paced comprehensive video trainings on scalp and haircare science, along with a detailed textbook for in-depth learning. After completing the modules, case studies are submitted for instructor feedback, followed by review materials to prepare for the US Trichology Institute accredited exam. Upon successful completion of the program and exam, both a digital and physical certification are awarded.

This program is not affiliated with any specific haircare brand, company, or product line. In fact, specific brands and names are intentionally omitted from the program in order to focus on what truly matters: the ingredients. By prioritizing ingredient knowledge, the program empowers you to confidently choose and recommend the products that best align with your clients’ needs. You'll gain the expertise to make informed recommendations based on the quality and composition of the products, not just their labels.

Please note, this program does not cover products specifically designed for hair growth, DHT regulation, or those associated with alopecia. The focus is on overall haircare, scalpcare, and ingredient-based recommendations.

This program focuses on the science of hair and scalp health, as well as the formulation and usage of haircare and scalpcare products. Unlike other USTI courses that may focus on hair loss or alopecia, this program is not about specific conditions or products for hair growth. Instead, we dive into the chemistry behind at-home products, helping you understand ingredients and how they affect scalp and hair health.

Through this education, you'll be able to confidently recommend products based on their scientific properties, rather than trends or social media. The program also empowers you to educate your clients on maintaining a healthy scalp and hair at home, complementing your in-person treatments and establishing you as a trusted expert.

Upon successful completion of the program, including the coursework, case studies, and the US Trichology Institute accredited exam, students will be awarded the certification. This certification is provided both digitally and physically, allowing it to be displayed online and in person.

The certification follows the industry standard of being valid for two years following your exam completion date. Re-certifying every two years can occur for a fee of $90 USD, which includes the exam itself, staff correspondence, and printing and mailing your updated certificate.

Case studies are pass/no pass assignments, with detailed feedback provided by your USTI Educator, regardless of whether the assignment is passed. In the event of a "no pass," your USTI Educator will help identify areas for improvement and offer guidance and resources to ensure full preparation for a successful retake.

The passing score for the Scalp Health and Haircare Education Certification Exam is 70%. Students are allowed 3 attempts to pass the final exam, with instructor approval and communication. If the exam is failed 3 times, re-enrollment is required, along with payment of all tuition fees, to retake the program and complete all requirements. There is no credit or discount for failed exams or re-registration.
